Signs and Symptoms of Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS):

Date:

• Deep vein thrombosis (usually in the legs), which can lead to pulmonary embolism
• Recurrent pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or pregnancy complications (preterm birth, preeclampsia)
• Stroke
• Peripheral arterial thrombosis
Other, less common signs and symptoms:
• Neurological symptoms — chronic headaches, migraines, dementia, seizures (caused by blood clots obstructing circulation in the brain)
• Skin rash — reddish, net-like pattern on the skin (livedo reticularis)
• Cardiovascular damage — valve abnormalities of the heart
• Bleeding tendencies — reduced platelet count (thrombocytopenia), which may cause gum, nasal, or subcutaneous bleeding (petechiae)
Rare signs:
• Involuntary movements (chorea)
• Cognitive problems, memory impairment
• Sudden hearing loss
